disservices
That's it, lots and lots of foreigners come to Ireland every day motivated by the growing economy, by the cheaper English courses or just by the "momento" Ireland is passing through! Students (who are allowed to work 20 hours by week but end up working easily 40 hours), high-skilled workers, non-skilled workers, illegall workers, beggars, thieves... all kind of people. And all of them are trying to make a live here, even in a illegal way, doesn't matter. The point I'm trying to make is about the GNIB - Garda National Immigration Bureau - services... bad services. Disservice sounds better!
As every non-Irish person resident in the country needs a GNIB Identification Card, they (we) all need to go to the GNIB Office in order to get our ID. The office that should work from 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays suddenly changed to 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday. And to make things even worst, if someone - probably an illuminated person - decides that there is too much people in the waiting queue around say 4pm, they just stop attending for the day.
One will say "Fair enough, everybody wants to leave at time". Well, so why not to hire more people? Or someone still thinks 24 hours Tesco Store's crew works 24 hours a day? No way! Ireland is not known by its weather nor by its good services, mainly those carried out by the government offices. Public transportation, hospitals, drive tests, immigration services and so on.
But what makes services so bad? Is the government itself or the people who work to the government? Most people in nationalised company abuse some "privileges" they have, as stability. Once they are stable, they think they don't need to work properly, but they still want their big wages.
Maybe this is why they need foreigners here: to do the work they don't want to!
about elephants and births...
We have learned that a baby elephant was born in Ireland. Daddy elephant and mummy elephant are from Africa, and they are very happy; their little baby has already been called "The first Irish elephant".
This is much more than any non-EU human being born in Ireland. We all know on 1st January 2005 came into force the virtually undiluted application of "Jus Soli" (the right to citizenship of the country of birth). A person born on the island of Ireland after January 2005 is no longer either automatically a citizen or entitled to be a citizen.

I just received this message above... the infamous "spam". And do you know why there are so many spams? Because people believe in such stupid things they spread. It is sad, isn't it?
And the sadiest thing is that a whole generation (maybe more than one) will grow without knowing what SPAM really means! But here I am to iluminate a whole - maybe more - blind generation...
Canned meat
Spam is a canned precooked chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added, salt, water, sugar, and sodium nitrite! Shocked??? Well, you should be! Check it out! And it has gained a peculiar infamy, along with something of a place in pop culture, and has even entered into folklore and urban legend.
Name origin The product's original name Hormel Spiced Ham - not so original though - and was loosing market share, so they decided to name it from multiple entries in a naming contest. A Hormel official once stated that the original meaning of the name Spam was "Shoulder of Pork and hAM", but the current official explanation is that the name is a syllabic abbreviation of "SPiced hAM".
Although other unofficial sources cite "Specially Processed American Meat, as the original meaning, many others will say - as a jocular backronyms - SPAM stands for "Something Posing As Meat"!
From the cans to the computers In the Monty Python TV series, there is a sketch set in a cafe where nearly every item on the menu includes SPAM luncheon meat. As the server recites the SPAM-filled menu, a chorus of Viking patrons drowns out all conversations with a song repeating "SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM... lovely SPAM, wonderful SPAM," hence "SPAMming" the dialogue. The excessive amount of SPAM mentioned in the sketch is a reference to British rationing during World War II. SPAM was one of the few foods that were widely available.
In a reference to Monty Python repetition of the word SPAM, in earlies 1980, some BBS users would repeat the word "SPAM" a huge number of times to scroll other users' text off the screen. From this, later, computer programmers used the term in reference to something unwanted and repeatedly shown/sent.

A Piece of Pie...
Another funny thing about dates. Today is the "Pi" day. In an american fashion, today is 3/14, as the Pi number starts as 3.14... The Pi day celebrates one of the most important numners in maths. 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510... and so on! The European record for recounting the number belongs to Daniel Paul Tammet, who recited the number to its 22.514th digit, on 14 March 2004. Tammet (31/1/1979) is a British autistic savant, gifted with a facility for mathematics problems, sequence memory, and natural language learning. He was born with congenital childhood epilepsy.
I didn't get as further as Daniel yet, but I can tell you that the Pi's 40.000th digit is the number 1. And you would know that if you had watched the Simpson's episode "Marge in Chains", where Apu says that. And he is quite right, as the script writers approached the mathematician David H. Bailey to get it right.
Pi is the name of the Greek letter π, and this spelling is used in typographical contexts where the Greek letter is not available or where its usage could be problematic. When referring to this constant, the symbol π is always pronounced like "pie" in English, the conventional English pronunciation of the letter.
The constant is named "π" because it is the first letter of the Greek words περιφέρεια 'periphery' and περίμετρος 'perimeter', i.e. 'circumference'. Is belived its name was given in honjor of Archimedes, who worked out the first known theorical calculation of the number, calculating perimeters of two poligons, one inside and other outside a circunference.
And last but not less important, 14th of March was the birthday of Albert Einstein, borned in 1879.

Some From USA...
Rumsfeld Resigns
Faced with the collapse of his Republican majority in Congress, President Bush responded swiftly by announcing the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld - who he wanted resigned but not fired - and vowing to work with Democrats “to find common ground” on the war in Iraq.
He has said "The time is now", but some people are saying they have heard "I have no choice".
11-9
Today is another day to celebrate (!) the so-called "nine eleven", because if you use date notation in the right way (DD-MM-YY), today is 9-11... not funny!
One Of These Days...
Talking to a friend of mine - american - she recalled me about the elections in US (the most important one, she said!). "The Republicans want this and that, the Democrats want that and this... some are good for the big urban centres, some are good for the country side, but they want to impose their things to everyone!"
I asked her, rhetorically: aren't your government doing the same with "the rest of the world?"
Silence...

In this cultural broth where crime is not crime, but error, where kidnappers are not kidnappers, but national heroes, rewarded with podgy retirements and chair places in the Congress, and the great press opens spaces for praise of genocidal assassins, is not a surprise that the PCC demanded its part!

The Seneca Falls Convention
Among the many important questions which have been brought before the public, there is none that more vitally affects the whole human family than that which is technically called Woman's Rights. Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
On July 19, 1848, the First Woman's Rights Convention began in Seneca Falls, New York. The idea of holding a women's rights meeting had originated eight years earlier in London, England when Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott and other women delegates were barred from participating in the 1840 World Antislavery Convention.

We was told Mr. Michael Jackson has expressed a wish to live in Ireland. Although it's been only a rumour, he is already very welcomed by the irish! Maybe (and just maybe!) this is because sex assaults to children has been so poorly treated here!

Is Al-Qaeda about to target Dublin Airport?
We have learned that Dublin Airport is in the hit-list of the Al-Qaeda terrorists. According to the Belfast Telegraph, Islamic cleric says Ireland is a 'legitimate target'. This is what the infamous hate preacher, Omar Bakri Mohammed, has been said about the use of Shannon Airport as a stop-off for US warplanes. This would justify Ireland being attacked.
The fanatics say If Ireland allows american aircrafts to refuel in the country, it's clear what side Ireland's playing. This is not neutrality.
We all have to be very careful... given that the IRA also targeted hospitals, women and children I guess the Irish Government will have some experience of, let's say... ignoring barbarism? I can't wait to see how Bertie will shuffle on this subject. After the EMC tax, Mr. Ahern is probably more concerned in finding out a new tax to collect from his vassals...

Good day... what a nice balaclava, I'd say!
Wow! Brazil is on the news! Again! And its violence is subject on a blog about gang's violence. It's not too bad, is it? Maybe such reports brings some patriotic fellings up... for those who live abroad but keep saying "My country is the best ever country in the world!" Ok, I would not say I don't like Brazil. I do! But it's far from be the best place to live!
Now, we have rebelled bandits claiming for justice!!! Is this a place to raise your children? Not mine! If such riot rises in a country, what are the values there?

I'm used to say to every rampant patriotic: "don't say a thing... jus go back"! To parody Chico Anísio: "Felling pitty? Bring them home!" In the meantime, I will be here, clapping hands to the dantesque... moreover, in another parody, I would say I clap hands to the whole country, while typing with my nose...
Ah, the headline... I almost forgot...
In this way, balaclavas will be the kind of accessories as popular as handkerchiefs or caps. Everybody will have one! But depending on the model, nose-typing could be difficult...

Transport to Where?
Well, they say there are more than 400,000 drivers in Ireland holding provisional licences, but only a bit more than 125,000 waiting to do the driving test... And so what? What's the point here? For me is clear it means it could be far worst, if all the other 375,000 L-drivers decide to apply to the full license.
Today you can expect a waiting line of one year, on average. Can be more, can be (a little) less, depends on where in the 51 test centres you apply.
And when we read the news about the millions and millions of euros earmarked for public transportation... all that promisses, there was so many... increase frequency on commuter and inter-city services, put more Dart cars to run, double the number of bus lanes in Dublin, Luas integration, Metro to the airport... don't forget about that nine and something millions spent on "how to develop a integrated ticket" - and now they will need seven million more!
The only question we can think is: where is the money? But I doubt someone will ask this question to the government. They could get an odd answer, like Ms. Mary Coughlan gave when asked "How many penalty points her own garda driver has ever incurred". She intoned and po-faced, answered "My driver is a Garda and that is a Garda matter".

The US Backyard
Well, as we already knew, dubious operations are taken place in Shannon Airport, and at least three in Dublin Airport. But what kind of operations is only speculation yet. And seems it will be like that for a while, as the government refuses to investigate those american airplanes. Why? God (in who we trust) knows!
What has been said in (not so) small talks is they are transfering prisioners to Guantánamo Bay, for that already famous illegal interrogatories and torture sessions. And they are doing this in their backyard: Shannon.
We would like to know the true, as the irish people don't want to have their country associated with such illegal american atrocities. Even they are not atrocities, a lot of people don't want their country associated with any kinfd of american policy at all. On this days, it's better to keep yourself away from them...

Undocumented Shannon
Yeah, we all know already...
The day after the americans turn a blind eye on the undocumented Irish in US, the Irish will have to reciprocate by doing the same at the Shannon's dubious american military activities. This such arrangement is probably already done.
